Chief Steward/Stewardess Job Description

The Chief Stew is head of the Interior department and has the most experience among those in such a position. A professional in this position reports directly to the captain. The Chief Stewardess oversees the Interior department ranging from maintaining the interior and the whole team to five-star hospitality, Extensive wine knowledge and making sure the guest meets their expectations onboard. Attention to detail and outstanding yet discreet guest service is vital to this role.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Managing of an Interior team and help with training when needed 
• In Charge of schedules to ensure everyday runs smoothly in the interior 
• Responsible for interior recruitment 

• Crew uniform purchasing 
• Responsible for Interior accounting 
• Interior Provisioning and Inventory management  
• Ensure excellent guest meal service 
• Working closely with the Head Chef to ensure excellent service 

• Care and maintaining of the Yacht interior and ensuring the correct products are used 
• Organising guest activities 

Required Skills: 

• Good Communication, Organisation, and diplomacy 
• Strong leadership and management skills 

• Financial management 
• Excellent knowledge of all types of service, housekeeping and laundry 
• Ability to delegate 
• Wine, cocktail- making, barista and cigar knowledge  
• Table decorating skills 

• Flower arrangement skills

• Problem solving skills 
• Knowledge of products used to maintain the interior
