Purser Job Description

The Purser is essential to the successful running of a superyacht and manages everything from Interior to accounts. The role of a purser ranges from crew, yacht and charter administration to financial matters, interior management, provisioning, and guest activities. A purser is commonly found on larger vessels and on smaller vessels it will be the Chief Stew taking on this role instead. ​

Key Responsibilities: 

• Financial administration for the entire boat 
• Working with the management accountants to ensure all financial matters runs smoothly 

• Responsible of all operations in the interior department 
• Assisting with interior inventories 
• Assisting heads of departments with purchasing and provisioning 
• Responsible for all guest and crew travels when required  
• Responsible for all crew administration  

• Planning and preparation for owner and guest trips 
• Organising guest activities including transport 

Required Skills: 

• Financial Management skills 
• Advanced computer skills 

• Administration management skills 
• Chief Stewardess experience 
• Organisational skills 
• Maritime law knowledge 
• Superior communication, organisation, diplomacy, and delegations  

• Ability to work under pressure 
• Attention to detail ​
